    In IIS Man:
    1. Expand your server
    2. Expand Sites
    3. Click on the site
    4. Over on the right, under Deploy, there should be Import Application

    You may need to:
    1. Load IIS MGR
    2. Click on your server
    3. On the right, click Change .NET Framework Version
    4. Set it to v4.0.30319

That is correct. ASP.net Routing. It's inbuilt into .net 4. The only thing I can think of is that some Handlers weren't installed, because it's going straight to looking for the file.

Try installing the Microsoft Web Installer (Microsoft Web Platform - Home)

This is a really weird problem. It sounds like .net isn't installed correctly.

Still haven't gotten around to playing with that import sorry, but about the missing deploy action: I had to download it as an extension from this Web Deploy page (MSI links are in the small print in the Download Extension box).

Eureka: Not saying it all works perfectly yet, but...

I imported Nick's settings which still didn't work, but I'd exported mine beforehand and winmerge was very handy (once again) pointing out the differences betwen them. I needed to add the IIS role service: HTTP Redirection

PS: <scrapped re. configurable My Docs path coz I just read upstream that's it's been done).

Have set the new uncpaths config entry for my My Docs redirected into a sub-folder of the users AD Home Folder and that works just fine - thanks Nick.
