    Setting up HAP URL

    Hello,

I have setup HAP successfully internally but I am now in the process of setting up HAP to be available on the Internet. I have contacted our DNS hosting provider and they have asked me for the URL and said it can only be in the form of hap.domain.com and not hap.domain.com/hap. The problem I have is that internally I can only access HAP via hap.domain.com/hap. If I go to hap.domain.com it takes me to the IIS page. I think I have missed a step here but am not sure how to set it up so that hap is available via hap.domain.com.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any reason why they only accept hap.domain.com? Our public IP on port 443 forwards to our internal IP port 443. So our HAP is accessible via remote.domain.co.uk/HAP. This allows us to access other websites running on port 80 on the web server.

I'm not sure. Our provider said "Please note that Internet DNS cannot point to a folder on that domain, such as hap.domain.com/hap". This is my first time setting up a web server so I am new to this. Are they incorrect and have I setup hap correctly?

No they are correct. You need to set up the forwarder on your public IP to point to your web server. Then point hap.domain.com to your public IP. You can then access it via hap.domain.com/HAP

To set up the forwarders is that something I need to do or would this be for our ISP?

The /hap part of the address is at the server level - i.e HAP is in a folder called hap on your webserver. If you wanted hap.domain.com to be the url without the /hap, you could setup redirection on the server so that hap.domain.com gets automatically translated to hap.domain.com/hap. Something along the lines of: Root redirection to subdirectory

If you have control over your router you can do it but your ISP can do it too.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies and advise. Our ISP has now setup the URL and we can access HAP externally

    Thanks
