Can't save config on new server
So, I've put a new installation of HAP on a server and done the initial setup (first page of setup.aspx). All well and good.
However, when trying to do anything else (say, adding a new mapping in My Files), I'm getting the following error. Google isn't getting me very far, so - any idea how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
A Error has occured:
Error Saving the Configuration
The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be searched. Inaccessible logs: Security.
at System.Diagnostics.EventLog.FindSourceRegistration (String source, String machineName, Boolean readOnly, Boolean wantToCreate) at System.Diagnostics.EventLog.SourceExists(String source, String machineName, Boolean wantToCreate) at System.Diagnostics.EventLog.SourceExists(String source) at HAP.Web.Setup.Save_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
[Edit] Interesting - it seems that the settings change was made, even with that error.
[Edit 2] After logging in as a regular user, things get more interesting. My Files gives this error: http://prntscr.com/2ubqho and the home pages gives this (yet other things on the homepage still work) http://prntscr.com/2ubqpa. Works fine for admins.
[Edit 3] I've managed to fix the "Error Saving the Configuration" error, but the two on the last edit still remain.

just a quick query here, when you are changing the setup.aspx page are your going to the AD tab and typing in the administrator password so that a green tick shows when you edit anything on any of the Tabs.

The something is wrong means that local logon rights don't exist on the server, go back to the installation/setup notes, you've missed a step

Yeah, I'm typing that in every time.
Okay, pretty sure I followed the installation steps exactly but I'll retrace my steps.

I've done all steps except for "34. Right Click on HAP and select Convert to Application" as this option doesn't appear in the right click menu.

I had that, you must be sure to be using Default Website and not one you made.
21st February 2014, 01:11 PM #7
Default Website was deleted to remove clutter (this server hosts other internal sites).

Yeah that's what I was trying but found that only Default Website had the option.

Is there anything else I can do, short of re-installing IIS, to get it back?

I had a look at that and tried a couple of the answers, yet they still don't allow me to "Convert to Application".

Hmm sorry, when I had this I was installing on a clean server so just re-installed IIS.

Reinstalling IIS isn't possible here since this hosts other things, I don't have a spare server just for HAP.
I'll be able to restart the server shortly, so perhaps that'll help. I'll update this post after I've done that.

is it possible to create a VM for HAP

I'm not sure what you mean? I have HAP running on a Server 08 R2 VM on ESXi...
