    Subdir permissions ignored?

    I'd just like to say HAP+ is brilliant! We've been using it for nearly 6 months now and everyone muchly appreciates being able to access their files from home!

    One issue that has recently flagged up though, relates to our shared areas, and more specifically to certain directories to where kids have write access to a specific subdir we allow them to write into to submit work for review by staff, to save staff manually finding their work in their home drives etc.

    It seems that no upload/new folder button appears when a student browses these writeable directories where they don't have permission to write into a parent, so if we had a structure like "\Subject\Pupil Work\Year 7" the year 7 group has been given explicit permission to write into the Year 7 folder, but the parent 'Pupil Work' or 'Subject' folders they cannot modify. When in school on computers they can write fine into the 'Year 7', but in HAP+ they simply do not get the New Folder/Upload buttons as they do on their own home drive mappings.

    Is there any way around this or are they going to be stuck unable to do this?

    Can you do some HAP+ JSON Debugging

    Look for a request like /hap/api/MyFiles/info/%path%

    Let me know what the response is pleasr

    Hi Nick,

    I've done some JSON debugging and the response is below:

    {"Actions":1,"Contents":null,"DateAccessed":null," DateCreated":null,"DateModified":null,"Extension": null,"Icon":"..\/images\/icons\/folder.png","Location":"X\\Geography\\Pupils\\Stud ent Work 13\\Year 11","Name":"Year 11","Permissions":{"AppendData":true,"CreateDirs": true,"Delete":true,"DeleteSubDirsOrFiles":false,"E xecute":true,"FullControl":false,"ListDirs":true," Modify":true,"ReadAttr":true,"ReadData":true,"Read ExAttr":true,"ReadExecute":true,"Traverse":true,"W rite":true,"WriteAttr":true,"WriteData":true,"Writ eExAttr":true},"Size":null,"Type":"File Folder"}

    It looks to me like the JSON is saying they can write, however as you can see from the screenshot there is no upload or new folder button available to them.

    I am running the latest zip and the subsequent MyFiles Excel patch.

    Thanks!

    Hi Nick,

    I think I owe you an apology here, turned out that drive definition in the hap config only had the student group in read, not write access. So while they had permissions with NTFS to do it, they were being denied by HAP+ on the entire share regardless, due to that setting.

    Still, setting them to be allowed to write does allow it, but then shows 'Upload' on every folder in the entire drive, not just the ones that are writeable for them. They can't upload where they're not meant to be able to, but it would be lovely if the 'Upload' only showed if the current working dir was writeable..

    Sorted for the v10 release, managed to figure out what it wasn't doing, with the NTFS Permissions, if you want to test it, you'll need to wait for v10
