@timbo343 did you manage to figure this out? I get the same problem when I upgrade as well.

This error is a result of a problem with your hapConfig file, the only real way to fix it is to delete your hapConfig.xml file and start again. Once the initial stuff is setup, you should be able to copy stuff from your old config into the new file.

Just removed all the folders baring the APPDATA, replaced with the V9 files and backed up me hapConfig.xml. Now im getting the site but no themes. Just a text layout if thats the right words.

I wiped everything out (after a backup of my old HAP) and when I run the setup I get crosses next to my iis config at the top, and I can't choose any AD groups and my tile images on the setup page are not visible. Should I put the 9.1 update in and run the setup again?
@timbo343 if I remember rightly it's got something to do with the web.config file in the root of your HAP folder, try removing the line that has .svg mime type, that tends to work.

I had a load of red crosses using IE, when I switched to chrome the red crosses disappeared and I got green ticks as I started to complete each section, only issue I have now is when I log in I keep getting Unauthorised Access.

CHeers, ive managed to gain access without any problem on a new V9 install via FF.

Was going to copy bits out of the hapconfig.xml file so i didnt have to set all of it up again but i got called into a meeting.

Will try the web.config from the backup again.

    Thanks

    1. Open the Registry Editor:
      1. Select Start then Run
      2. Enter regedt32 or regedit

    2. Navigate/expand to the following key:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Eventlog\Security
    3. Right click on this entry and select Permissions
    4. Add the Network Service user or IIS AppPool\HAP user
    5. Give it Read permission
