    v9 Upgrade Oddity

I just upgraded our beta site from 8.7 to 9.0 following the simple upgrade instructions and all seems to be functioning correctly. There is one "visual" issue... After logging in the navigation buttons do not display the image. I am seeing international characters instead (see attached image). the buttons do function correctly though. This happens with both Internet Explorer 10 and Firefox 20. Any thoughts?

Hmm, can you check that the /style/icons.ttf opens in your browser

Hey Nick, thanks for the quick reply. When I navigate to https://mywebsite.com/style/icons.ttf I get the "open or save" dialog box (image 1 below). If I select "Open" I get the Font Preview Window (image 2 below). I double-checked the permissions on the various folders and they seem correct.

ok, that's loading correctly, hmmm, is it just IE that's doing this? It looks like IE isn't loading tte CSS file and Font file properly.

It's happening in both I.E. and firefox. I made one change to baseline.css to change the image in the left pane to our logo. I did check the change for any malformed tags but everything looks correct. I am going to restore the original css file and see if that has any impact.
    Thanks.

Nick, I restored the "Baseline.css" file to the original and I still have the "international characters". Any other suggestions? If not I will do a complete refresh of everything except my App_Data folder and see what a "clean upgrade" shows. This site is not in production yet (I was hoping to have it ready for Monday though).

In IE, open the developer tools (F12) and check the browser version it's running in, should be native (IE10/IE10)

IE Developer Tools reports "Browser Mode: IE10" and "Document Mode: Standard". I ran "Fiddler" and navigated to the page but didn't see any errors.

Hmm, very odd, the browser is running correctly. I don't seem to get that issue though. Very odd. It isn't loading the file types correctly, check that you've added the mime types for all 3 font files that the CSS file references, in the correct content type

Nick, it looks like this was a "self inflicted injury" - Sorry to waste your time!

I did a "clean install" of v9.0 leaving my App_Data folder intact and the navigation icons are there as they should be. I will be very careful with the modification I will be doing, testing between each one. I will see if I can pin down what exactly caused the issue. Basically, the changes I am making are all cosmetic to make the application more for us. Things like changing the logo in the left pane to our company logo, changing the text "Access your School..." to something more appropriate for us, adding a MIME type for files we need to be able to use, etc. If there are ways to do the aforementioned items let me know. I didn't see anything in the doc and I did take a quick look through the forums.

Nick, just an FYI... I applied each of my modifications testing the site as I went along. All modifications in place and no funny "international characters". I don't know exactly what I did but everything is in place. We should be announcing to our users next week. The "pilot group" absolutely love the capabilities that this will provide them. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again for all the help. Sorry to send you on a "wild goose chase".

Good to hear, it could of been a text encoding issue
