HAP+ Web v8.7.1312.1700 cannot save config error

I get the following error whilst configuring HAP for the first time. I've filled in the general and Active Directory tabs successfully, but any attempt to save results in the following error. I've checked and a hapconfig.xml has been created.

    A Error has occured:

Yeah, I got that too, but after a server reboot, it seemed ok. Don't know whether the process of mapping the AD bit to an alternate domain had anything to do with it, as that was the last thing I did prior to the server reboot.

I ran into that same problem; although it did actually create the hapconfig.xml file in the App_Data folder. It was an indicator of another problem, though. The fix was to open regedt32, and go to
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Se curity

Right click the "Security" key and choose "Permissions"

Add the "IIS AppPool\HAP" user (replace "HAP" with whatever you called your HAP app pool) and give it "Read" permission.

I can confirm that the fix above resolved my config problem. Though my install is still not fully working, problems with My files, but I'll keep persevering.

What's up? I have 3 versions of this running now so might be able to help.
