Ok, it should be on codeplex, it's attached if needed as it looks like codeplex is down atm

    Nick,

Eeek, what do you mean by studentPhotoHandler? I think I'm being a little dense.

    Hi Nick,

I have checked and there is nothing in the studentPhotoHandler. However its still not picking up the pics? I dropped the dll files into the bin directory on the HAP server but still no joy.

Any ideas? Its prob something I’m doing wrong!

    Nick,

Not to piggyback on another problem (and if you want to move it to another thread, that's fine) , I was curious about this feature as well and added a user's picture into Active Directory. I only added it in for one staff member to test it out. If I go into attribute editor under that user's properties, I can see that it is set. But when I log-in to HAP+ as that user, I get the generic user picture. I didn't know if there was something that I was missing. I did check out the videos on the hap.codeplex site, but the videos were for older versions of HAP+ and talked about SIMS. I setup a test site called HAPTEST with a fresh install, thinking maybe it was some configuration on the actual site that I had screwed up, and it still didn't show up on the fresh install.

I looked at the photo handler line in hapconfig.xml and it is set as follows: "photohandler="" />".

Looking at the source code of the page it says the following:
    HTML Code:
    <a href="#" id="hapUserTitle">Test Teacher (<span>testteacher</span>)</a>

                            <div id="hapUserMenu" class="hapmenu tile-border-color">
                                <div class="mypic" style="background-image: url(api/mypic)"></div>
                                <a href="./#me">Edit Profile</a>
                                <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ctl12$ctl02$ctl00','')">Logout</a>
Is there something else that I have to configure for it to pull the Active Directory Photo?
    Thanks!

    Nick,
When I go to /hap/api/mypic I get the following:

HAP/api/tiles/icons/128/128/images/icons/metro/folders-os/UserNo-Frame.png. If I select the picture, I can see the generic user photo.

    Thanks!

It's weird too. I can change other attributes in Active Directory and they show up in HAP+. I changed the user's display name and it updated it in HAP+ after clearing my cache. Does the photo have to be on a Network Share that the web server would have to have access to? Right now I just have the photo on the Desktop of one of my Domain Controllers. How does HAP pull the photo attribute?

I have tried a couple different ways to import the pictures into Active Directory. One is using Dovestone's AD Photos program. Another is using Code2's Active Directory Photos program. Like I said, I can see that the attribute is set if I look at the attribute editor. I don't know if it is something with how I am getting the pictures into Active Directory? Is there a way that you recommend that works for you?

Is there a log file I can look at to see why it is failing? My users are going to be pretty fired up to use HAP regardless if their picture is there or not. It is definitley not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have their picture show up.

    Thanks for your help.

You dont need to leave the picture on a share, it puts it into AD and pulls it from there as far as I know. I have had a little play today and still cant get it to read from the thumbnail attribute. Its not a massive issue, just a nice to have.

I'll have to look into why this isn't working as it should be, it does for me anyhow

I can confirm that the image from the "thumbnailPhoto" attribute is being used. It appears when i click the username at the top right.

    2 issues though:

<a> The image is tiled in the top right display (this was the same when using the jpegphoto attribute in the previous version) (See image below)
<b> It isn't appearing on the -ME- tile for me.. i presume this is a caching thing.. but im not sure how to force it.. i tried refreshing the page etc! - so perhaps it isnt a caching thing?

In reference to the other questions, I use BCX Management Tools to manage my network and this allows me to add the thumbnail through the user-manager.
