    Google Docs - Pre Populate google docs prompt with username

    Hi Nick,

    I was wondering if we could perhaps pre populate the Google Docs username field for our users?

    We use Google Apps avidly here but we at the moment have an unwieldy domain name. It would make it significantly easier for our students/staff if we could pull their 'email' from active directory.

    Can I just say a BIG Thank You, this is just a fantastic app!

    Kind regards,

    Amaro

    Edit ~/myfiles/default.aspx

    Line 40:
    Code:
    <input type="text" id="googleuser" value="<%=ADUser.Email %>" />
    Line 780:
    Code:
    $("#googleuser").val("<%=ADUser.Email%>").removeClass("loading");
    That should do it

    Don't want to be picky but can I increase the field size for the username (and password)?

    At the moment it doesn't cope with our full domain name...

    Thanks, that has changed the text box size, where can I change the whole "Sign in to Google Docs" box to cope with the bigger size?

    Hmm, have you resized the box before? As it remembers what size it was before.

    It should autosize to the content

    Yes, but when I hit Ctrl+F5 it resizes back to the size on the screenshot.

    Sorry about this, not that versed in HTML/CSS

    My MyFiles\Default.aspx looks like this at the moment:

    Code:
    <div><hap:LocalResource StringPath="myfiles/sendto/googlesignin2" runat="server" /></div>
    		<div>
    			<label for="googleuser"><hap:LocalResource StringPath="username" runat="server" />: </label>
    			<input type="text" id="googleuser" value="<%=ADUser.Email %>"  style="width: 300px;"/>
    		</div>
    		<div>
    			<label for="googlepass"><hap:LocalResource StringPath="password" runat="server" />: </label>
    			<input type="password" id="googlepass"  style="width: 300px;"/>
    		</div>

    Ok try adding the style="width: 400px" to the top div
    HTML Code:
    <div style="width: 400px"><hap....

    Some additional comments/observations about this feature
    1. It's a great addition!
    2. Might the suggested change in the previous post (ie. style="width: 400px") possibly be retained as a permanent part of the myfiles\Default.aspx for future version releases. Our Google Apps logins were also failing, due to length of "userID @ domain name" and it took the above recommendation to fix it.
    3. If you aren't logged into gmail with the same account that you are "saving to Google Apps" with, the file copies OK but the resultant popup gives an error message asking you to login to the "school" Google Apps domain (if you have one). All our school mail is on Google but most staff/students have "private" gmail accounts as well
    4. If you "Save to Google Apps" for one file and then choose another to "Save to Google Apps", the Google Apps user ID is not in the prompt second time around (it's blank)

    All of these are minor niggles and are reproducable

    Thanks

    2. I'll try and remember
    3. That error can't be fixed unfortunately
    4. Make sure you've done line 780 as well

    Thanks for your reply. In regard to point 4, here are the appropriate lines from our Default.aspx and they seem to be correct:
    Line 40
    <input type="text" id="googleuser" value="<%=ADUser.Email %>" style="width: 500px;" />
    Line 780
    $("#googleuser").val("<%=ADUser.Email%>").removeCl ass("loading");

    Point 3 isn't really that important. I can always add a message to the "Announcements"

    Line 780 should be resetting the google user box to the AD User Email address. Very odd
