USB Memory Sticks Not Detected
Weird one, when plugging a memory stick into this 2000 machine sometimes it finds the stick(s) sometimes it displays an error while installing the drivers (the installation failed because a function driver was not specified for the device instance) and sometimes it just yellow !'s them with device cannot start.
I have installed the latest chipset drivers, removed the USB entries in device manager and allowed them to reinstall but I still end up with the same problem. On the occasion they work, the drive is shown with its name but contains a zero value for size and shows no files.
All sticks work in other PCs and other usb devices work fine on the PC in question, such as printers.
Please help!
Re: USB Memory Sticks Not Detected
Some more info, it seems to be legacy win95/98 drivers loading in place of the 2000 ones. The reccomended fix is editing the ini files but so far I have had no luck. :(
Edit - After rebooting with the modified inf files I get some unrecognised root hubs but everything works.... that is untill the memory stick is removed and re-inserted and the whole thing starts over again :(
