Just to let you all know that I narrowed my testing to Meraki and Ruckus. Meraki refused to send out power adaptors and as we only have 100MB POE and had been running the Ruckus on 1GB connection, it would not have been a fair test. I therefore only tested the Ruckus kit but to be honest, there was no point bothering with the Meraki. The Ruckus kit was totally amazing. I had teachers who had no idea they were using new kit saying they had seen a massive improvement in the reliability of the netbooks and speed. We had a lesson with 24 netbooks all working with Education City, 4 netbooks streaming BBC news live and 4 netbooks streaming different feeds from iPlayer. They were all connected to only 1 AP which was in a false ceiling in the next classroom with no problems at all.
Ruckus is the way forward for us, they have excellent products, good service/support, fair pricing and are well future proofed. I have been dealing with Aggy and Stuart from Net-Ctrl who have been excellent. Hope this helps somebody else out.
sorry to divert this thread a little, i was wondering if you had considered Cisco managed wireless at all, i have someone trying to sell me it as a solution, and i was wondering if anyone had experience of it?
I currently use apple airports as we only have limited number of netbooks thankfully.
I have seen Cisco in action and it is very impressive but to me Cisco = very complex/time consuming set up and a lot of money lol!
Also just seen your signature. Couldn't agree more!
