We have been given some hp xw4600 workstations. Some have a BIOS password so I cannot get them to start up on CD/DVD.
Does anyone know how to reset the bios? The most promising sites are blocked here.

Yank out the CMOS battery and that should do the trick
Thanks, that's done the job
EDIT: May have spoken too soon... leaving it out while I shoot off for an appointment.
You need to faff with the password jumper as well - HP manual is @ http://h50146.www5.hp.com/lib/doc/ma...001_screen.pdf if you can get to it, and page 149 has the specific procedure you need.
PM if you can't get to the PDF and I'll e-mail it to you, 6.7mb big so might need to be a GMail jobbie
Yeah, the HPs tend to store the password even when the BIOS has been run down. Good thing really.
Okay... I'm back... not sure if it was the battery being left out or the holding down the CMOS button but I'm in.
Thanks for the advice.
