Yes it means it cannot see it so somethings occuring
Are you running the latest firmware? we got this issue.. until we upgraded.
We had a similar issue with restarting AP's, we updated to Version 8.2.0.1 build 8 and they've been fine since.
Okay! Issues!
Heartbeats lost, and now the APs are all disconnected. I can get in to them through IP but they're not showing as being managed in the ZD.
Anyone come across this?
Are all the access points on the same layer 2 network?
What version of code are you now running?
Can an access point ping the ZD IP address?
Do the access points get an IP from dhcp or are they staticly applied?
Rob
I think the issue was because the IP on the ZD was changed. The APs no longer seemed to talk to it? Not sure how you would go about changing the IP then without it throwing a wobbly.
Also, I think there's a bug when you specify the primary and secondary ZD IPs in the AP config. Only one IP should be needed but it insists on having two. If you don't have two ZD's then that's pretty useless.
Hi,
You shouldn't need to specify the ZD in the access point, if it's a layer two network the access points will find the ZD without any further help.
Rob
Do you have 2 ZDs? I only have 1 and i the only thing i've configured as primary or secondary is dns.
Realistically your APs shoudl just pick up the ZD, assuming you've checked to see if the AP connected fine to the switch, I would reboot the AP (physical power off and on).
Sorry, I was talking about where you set the APs to only communicate with a particular ZD. It's under config then APs I believe. I guess it doesn't need to be set if there is only one ZD.
Anyway.
Changing the IP address of the ZD stops the APs from communicating with it, regardless of whether the above setting is enabled or disabled.
So.. I guess you can't change the IP of the ZD once its setup!
Oh right, the setting under Access Point Policies.. i think that came in on one of the firmware updates, cant remember which one. Anyway we dont set Limited ZD Discovery here because we only have 1 ZD so im no help.. sorry.
Same, and it's turned off. You can still can't change the IP of the ZD without it going nuts though.
Must admit, I only changed the IP a couple of times during the installation phase but havent tried changing it later. I'll make a note that if I ever think of changing the IP.. DONT.
Maybe a firmware update will fix it? every time i have a problem, im usually told to do a firmware update.
