Fujitsu Siemens Laptop issue
We have got a couple of laptop by fujitsu simens, its the E series and i think they are E8010 model..
We have had these for a couple of years now, and they were all part of the Laptop For Teachers Scheme which were bought by our LA
Recently ive had a couple of them come back to me and all the USB (3 ports) port just seem to die and cant get them back again, and a restart dont seem to fix the issue either...... i have to try to build them again, but the teacher are too dependent on them and i havent got my hands on any of them to try this as yet....
Was just wondering if anyone else had faced similar issues, and if there was a fix for this!
Thanks
Niraj

Re: Fujitsu Siemens Laptop issue
Ive just looked at the power setting, and there is nothing there that i can see that might stop the USB ports from working.....
I rebooted the machine, with the power plugged in, and that didnt bring the USB ports back.
Any other suggestions?
Re: Fujitsu Siemens Laptop issue
no, I mean laptops usually come with a manufacturer created utility to control power settings the default windows controls don't cover. See if your fujitsus have one and if so what the settings are. It might be powering down the USB ports.
Re: Fujitsu Siemens Laptop issue
Look at Hardware Device manager, expand USB controller section, select a USB Hub, right mouse button, properties, power management and there should be an option to allow the computer to turn off the hub to save power. Try unticking this & see if it makes any difference?
Re: Fujitsu Siemens Laptop issue

Ive just looked at a laptop that came with the standard build, but that doesnt have a power utility by fujitsu on it.....
