Acer laptop bios reset.
So here's the thing, our science dept bought about 10 acer extensa 5210 laptops a year ago for standalone use. They now wish for them to be added to the network, so we have been looking at them and thought we'd image them using ghost. The problem is most of them have a bios password that was most likely made by a student due to the science dept not securing them... :]
Anybody know any ways of resetting the bios passwords on laptops? Usually move the cmos chip or take out the battery on a desktop, but taking all the laptops apart is a bit of a job.
Sometimes if you flash the BIOS with an updated version it will wipe all the settings.
You could look around for a hacking tool that did this, I'm sure someone must have produced one.
But it's a lot more likely that you'll have to open them up, to get at the CMOS reset switch, if you're lucky it may just be one cover on the underside or even beneath the keyboard.
