advice on wireless projector that can handle video playback
I have managed to get our school to give the go ahead to purchase a wireless projector for the hall (this saves so much time long terms as we wil not have to spend 15/20 minutes setting up a projector for assemblies/visitors etc)
HAs anybody got a wireless projector setup that can handle video playback, ie a dvd in the laptop etc.
cheers

We have a fixed projector in our hall hanging from an RSJ with the cabling run to it back to a lovely wall mounted connection box and a multimedia cabinet housnig the dvd/vcr and the amp/mixer for the sound system.
I wouldn't go for wireless personally as I reckon that could be even more hassle with setting it up.

Have looked into this in the past and I think you will find that full video playback to a wireless PJ is poor at best.
They are great for everything else but if your main purpose for the PJ is video playback the you would be beter to get one so that laptops can connect via wireless for PowerPoint etc. Then have a DVD/VHS combi connect via cables for all video playback.
Plus with regards to visitors they will need to install the software supplied with the wireless PJ to enable wireless communication.
Re: advice on wireless projector that can handle video playback
I've tried wireless projectors, and my advice is to forget it. Especially DVD. There is no way that you can get the amount of info required over a link running at those speeds. Even smaller converted files such as .mov and windows media files struggle.

If you can do it go for VGA over CAT5 with booster units as necessary. Much better. You won't be restricted to the types of media you can play.

for the hall we fixed a wired projector to the ceiling, ran all the cables to a switch wihch jumps between vcr, cd/dvd, tvtuner, and computer, this works for us, i know wireless sucks!

Use VGA over CAT5, thats what I do. Means you just need a Network point where you can have a laptop and a couple of power points and job done.
