We are replacing our laptops in the summer as they are creeking now.
We are replacing 110 and looking at spending £400 each. I'm sure we should be able to get a duel core, 2gb ram 3 year warrenty for that. Ideally not widescreen(projector issues) but thats not essential.
We currently have toshiba A100 but we are open to different flavours
Any ideas?
We bought Lenovo laptops last year when replacing staff laptops. They have been ok so far, no major problems.
Lenovo here as well, we used Acer before, and the lenovos are just brilliant, highly recommended.Quote:

I know a school that got a good price from Dell Business (not Dell Schools) about 3 months ago, but make sure they don't try to stitch you up with the £40 per unit delivery charge, you should be able to negotiate that as a free from what I heard.:)
They knocked out the Inspiron 1600 with dual core and xp pro or vista business for 300 quid but with 1 gig ram 1 year warranty, new models on the site now so you would have to investigate.
We used to use toshiba, we use lenovo now, buying in bulk will get you great discounts if you barter with your supplier. In the end I got the email and phone of the lenovo sales rep in my area and told him what i wanted and the price. He got me a pretty good deal laptop + bag + 3 year warrenty.
Euro PC were recommended to me on this site and I have found them very useful and helpful. The 'reconditioned' Dells they sell are in fact new and we have had some nice kit from them recently. They sell all sorts of makes and may have some special offers

We got a bunch of Dell Latitudes in at the start of this year and they've been great so far. I think they were about £600 a piece but you can get ones a good deal cheaper than that.
We bought some HP ones too recently - they seem pretty good.
We tend to stick by toshiba here for our staff and student lease laptops, hard wearing and never had any problems with them up to now. Any problems we do have tend to get fixed under the 3 year warranties.
We did this in Sept 2007, after the Quinetic solution we used to use was stopped. Went with Acers - the 3yr EDU Warranty and Accidental Damages swung it. The machines cost £322 each (including bag, mouse and warranty etc) - though we did by 55 of them. Specs... AMD dual core 1.6, 512ram, 80gb hdd, cd/dvd multi writer, wlan, 14" screen. They had to be light too - these were 1.8kg i think.

Cheers for the replies:) we have a few Levono laptops might look further into them seem pretty sturdy and reliable
HP ones for me seem the best, think I will try ebuyer for a price on them this time round :)
I think I would have to agree with either hp or dell laptops at least for that sort of price.
