We've bought a bunch of HP machines. They've come with 3 1/4" card readers and Dual layer SATA DVD writers. Ideally, I'd like to remove these and just leave the machines with no local drives. So where can I get some drive blanking plates?

Theres always the danger that some plates don't fit other cases. You could try ICT-Direct for some dirt cheap spares\freebies.
The HP machines we have use a slimline optical drive - when you remove it, a flap just pops up so that there is no "hole" in the machine. Could yours be the same??
No, they don't. The HP model number is DX2300. Here's the product page.

have you tried contacting HP about it? They might be able to send you some.
Geoff how did you get on with this? We could do with some for replacing broken ones...same PC model as you mentioned.
HP wanted £14 per machine for a set of blanking plates. We just left the drives in and disconnected the cabling.
haha £14! Doesn't surprise me really as not much different to what Fujitsu-Siemens used to charge for a replacement piece of plastic.
As my situation differs in that it used to be blanking plates fitted but now punched out to leave a PAT failing hole I need something.
Might ask technology if they can make some we can glue in.
How many do you need?
Around 20x 5.25" and 10x 3.5" for now, but I guess more will come in eventually..
