Just a warning about TP-LINK PRODUCTS as I've now lost all confidence with them.
So far in two years we have brought.
2x triple antenna AP
2x normal AP
1x wireless n range extender.
And before two years ago another access point.
So far every single wireless point drops every hour or so. Just dropped one in to be replaced.
The WAP I brought about 3 years ago didn't have a reset button so failed and couldnt be reset to factory setting.
The 8 port switch is still going at the minute but the 24 port has been binned.
All six of my school now refuse to by tp-link products.
The extender and 8 port are for home so not getting business traffic through them.
All firmwares upgraded.
I would avoid any of these budget brands for critical infrastructure.
Yep I'm a net gear only man now. HP is ok but too expensive.
Even for home use I wouldn't touch now.
TP-Link stuff is dire however I will place a recommendation for their antennas - at least the external ones I've had from them are very well priced and perform admirably.
:) if they manage to mess up a antenna I would be amazed although not suprised.
Gotta say we've used tp-link when needs / budget must and it's been great. The wireless was cheap and cheerful but did a job.
Have some gigabit switches in that also server a purpose. One failed (PSU) but was replaced under warranty. It was fitted on a place with not a lot of ventilation at the time too.
Can't say that we've had any real trouble. The perform very well given their price and what you'd expectant that point.
I'd definitely steer away from using their networking gear in a business environment. We have a couple of their PoE injectors to power some phones but there isn't really anything to go wrong with a PoE injector!
At home I've used one of their 802.1n (TL-WA901ND) wireless access points and it has been solid. Can't fault it.
ya pays ya money, ya takes ya choice...
