Printer has a smear mark and cant get rid of it. Help!!

Hi was wondering if anyone could assist me with a printer problem we are having.

We have a Samsung Ml2250N and its begun to leave a smear mark in the middle of the page. We tried replacing the toner and it didnt make a difference so we effectively dismantled the printer and then gave it a good clean with some compressed air and damp cloths but this hasn't made a difference.

Can anyone suggest if there is a certain place in the printer where we need to give it a through clean or could it be something else which we haven't tried.

The best way for me to explain the mark is if you have a biro and write something on a piece of paper and then immediatlely run your finger across it, it will leave a smear mark, thats probably the best way for me to explain it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a picture to give anyone an idea of what we are getting. apologies for the quality.

New drum, 95% sure. OR Fuser unit, you can hardly ever clean the printer to get rid of these 'Smears'

It could either be the heating wire that melts the toner into place, it could be damaged or dirty in the middle. If it does not heat up enough the toner will not melt fast enough in that area causing the smear. You could try printing a large solid black square and see if the toner on that line is a little flaky or not melted/set properly.

The other thing that it could be is the transfer drum, if it has worn out or is smudged it could be picking up to much toner, which is then transfered to the paper causing the smudge.

The transfer drum is definatly replaceable, the heating wire may depend on that model of printer.

danIT the drum on those is part of the toner cart so if they tried a new toner they've tried a new drum.

If the fuser unit is removable I probably have one I can sell you cheap.

I'm at a school mate it's just we use samsungs for our printers and replace them when things go wrong.

I'll see if I got one of those I can scavenge for you.

We'll raise an invoice for it and you can send us a cheque when you recieve it.

Sorry bad news I don't have ones of those in my junk pile.

I have a 2251N but that has a knackered fuser anyway.

I also have a 2150N but doubt it would be the same.
