NIC Teaming Problem... Help!!??!!!
Got a recently rebuilt file server - domestic mobo, Adaptec 3805 RAID card - 12 TB, does the job.
Just put in a Startech ST1000SPEX42 quad port network card to improve network throughput/failover.
Card has 4 X NIC interfaces
Chipset - Realtek RTL8111E
Server is running Windows Server 2008 R2
Using Realtek Network Diagnostic Utility to perform the teaming of the 4 interfaces
Card is IEEE802.3x compliant for LACP
Connecting to a Netgear GSM7224 L2 managed switch compliant for LACP
Teamed all 4 ports to one virtual adapter, set the IP etc works fine. No VLANs nothing special on the LAN.
Now... (please help!)...
Works fine with 1 cable connected - Windows reports 1Gb connection
Works fine with 2 cables connected - Windows reports 2Gb connection
... Put a third or fourth cable in..... virtual adapter disconnects, 'No network cable connected', no connection.
Disabled (and tried unplugging - same result) 2 of the NIC interfaces - connected again on its own.
Switch config? or cr@ppy drivers / Realtek utility?? Is this a 2/2 card (doubt it) - Startech useless, Realtek - forget it.
Driving me nuts.
Just done an AD x 2 migration from 2003 to 2012, new VMWare setup, monster server, no hitches at all - 2 (short) days . This ones got my goat....
Cheers in advance,
Mikky ; ) Have good hols ; )
