What load are you thinking of? One at a time or are you wanting one with a feeder?
I inherited a Datacard SP55 Plus - Does the job fine.
As the school uses Net2 access control for doors, I used its built in ID card software - It already had the majority of staff in the system, just a case of assigning photos to each of them, designing a template and then print.
I've got a Javeling J230i it does hopper or single card feed and prints well.
I paid for the usb only version but got an ethernet one delivered :)

I'd be going for a Magicard Pronto for those numbers. We have the model it replaced, the Tempo, and its done us well (we've done about 3,000 cards on it so far, so ideally we could've gone for a better one but use changed after we started with it).
Is there any possibility that this may extended to pupil cards too? If so, go for a better one, such as the Magicard Enduro, as it has a hopper.
The difference in price is about £600 for the first, £900 for the latter.
We have a Javelin 330i, it threw out 2000 cards back in September, and does about 40 or so a month and apart from a few issues, it is working fine.
We have the Magicard Pronto and to date have printed around 250 cards on the initial cartridge it came with. I've had no faults with it. We only had an initial 100 or so card to print which was a bit of a pain as I had to sit there and load each card one at a time at around 10 seconds a card.
It does a nice holographic security layer as well.
I'm a bit sick of Javelin TBH -our old one is a 2004 J310C and its been a bit of a problem with drivers.
Are the newer ones any better?
We had a javelin that did magswipe too and was a PITA. Cost a fortune to run and jammed every n'th card.
