Graphics card- issue with adapter settings

Hi guys

I have just purchased a new 'old' machine and each time I turn on I am presented with a message relating to the graphics configuration. See attached.Attachment 16144 I have also included the view of CCC.

I have no idea what it means. I have checked Device Manager in control panel and I can't see anything there. I am not particularly experienced with graphics, I usually just stick with basic on board stuff.

If it helps my setup is:

HP xw6600
Win7 Pro (64)
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600
AOC LED display linked by VGA lead to DVI via adapter

Can someone perhaps shed some light???

Did you install all the software and drivers yourself or are you using the machine as it came?

The first two things I'd be looking at are reinstalling your motherboard chipset driver and your graphics card driver.

No, it was all set up when it came. I just turned it on and hooked up the monitor.

Ok, I can google the drivers for the card as I know what model it is. How do I check the specifics on my motherboard chipset so I can google the right drivers?

Perhaps the previous owner had an ATI card installed ?
Look in Programs and Features at the control panel and see if there is any ATI software installed.

Sounds like this - you said in the post you have an NVIDIA Quadro, yet ATI Catalyst is for an ATI graphics card.

Aye, the AMD drivers are installed and running at startup (Catalyst Control Centre is the software that managed AMD cards, and runs in the systray), but you're running on an nVidia card. Hence the AMD software is complaining that it can't find anything to do.

Take a backup then just uninstall it from the control panel. Graphics drivers can mess with each other a bit so you may need to reinstall the nVidia drivers afterwards to repair any damage, but it should be straightforward if everything goes OK.

If I were you mate, I'd just totally flatten the PC and go again, reinstall it from scratch, even if you fix this problem you never know what else might crop up.

If you take a look on the motherboard there should me a manufacturer name and model, if it an old HP machine etc then just search for the model number on their website for all your drivers.

Download all your drivers, stick them on a USB drive, re-install windows and then install your drivers

Page with the drivers on.

Cheers guys, for the moment I have just removed all evidence of AMD and it's done the trick, not wanting to do a complete rebuild at the mo.

Rebuild is total overkill for that IMHO, usually just removing the old driver is enough. Driver Cleaner if you want to be really sure. We swapped a bunch of machines here from Nvidia to AMD recently - just took an uninstall, reboot, new driver install, reboot to do it.
