Konica Magicolor 5670EN. Bought a few decent, low count ones on ebay for between £20-£40.
Compat 12k toners £45+VAT each.
Imaging units compat £65+VAT each. When they run down, new chips for a fiver each.
This is my approach on a wafer-thin budget that gives the illusion of running an expensive printer setup, with exceptional printers and high duty toners but without the massive budget to match.
Many here however are probably too snobby or indeed too well-off (school budget wise) to even contemplate doing that :)

Yup good. Provided you do 20,000 pages per year on every device.... However if you expect to do 100,000+ then consider a RISO ComColor. The maths get sticky with the number of variables at play as you introduce a 'disruptive' device like a RISO, and the point at which you get value for money/savings is tough to predict. So I will (i'm afraid) leave that as an exercise for the reader.

Where did you get those stats from @psydii?
Prices from the usual supplier websites, the usage/lifetime info from the manufacturers data sheets, the Riso stuff from work done with them on a project here, so the details are specific to our site and also comercial in confidence etc etc (hence the vagueness)
Only if you buy brand new ;) Picked two up on ebay over the last 3 months, one cost £0.99 + £19 postage and the other £38 all in, latter including IUs.Quote:

Not sure if everyone could live with the unreliability of ebay machines , costly time wise to keep fixing.

In fact we have reduced the running costs by at least 50% with a nifty trick !

As a business we put the machines in for free and charge just for the prints made each month 7p colour 1.5p mono. ( regardless of coverage )
Inc all service repairs no lease involved.
Printers send a monthly meter reading and ask for toner when needed !
Besides the initial buy cost of a negligable amount, we've yet to spend any money or time on fixing issues as there haven't been any issues to fix! Admittedly there is no warranty but then you could also argue we may have been lucky.Quote:
