Laptop lid branding - school logo on the lid
We currently have the lids of all new laptops branded. This contains our school logo on a nice blue background. its the best theft deterent there is for a laptop - try shifting that on Ebay or in the pub!
We currently have this done through Equanet.
Can anyone suggest any other companies that do this and does anyone else do the same?!

Giant Stickers is the way I have done in the past. I have a good local firm that is a signwriter so I just give them the dimension of the laptop lid and they use outdoor heavy duty Vinyl which is soo sticky it actually pulled the trim from a Dell that I had to remove it from. On that they just stick the school name and logo from other colours of Vinyl.

We have a CLC in our school grounds and they have a laser machine which will etch any design you come up with on a variety of surfaces, glass, plastic etc. I believe they have tried this on a couple of redundant laptop lids. Something for the summer I think.

We're getting a load from Ergo with the lid screen printed - will let everyone know what they're like when they arrive
Its a good idea and I can see why people want it done, but my only concern is that at the end of the 3/4/5 years laptops normally still have life in them for say a primary school but who is going to want them with another schools logo plastered across them

Re: Laptop lid branding - school logo on the lid
Anyone know any online companies that offer the vinyl solution? I fear that getting existing laptops etched would void the 3 year warranty we have on them. Obviously if you get it done at time of purchase by the vendor this is probably not the case.

I'd find a local company that can come out and apply them as well personally.

Re: Laptop lid branding - school logo on the lid
It isn't that hard to apply vinyl decals. I have done it myself in the past. It just comes on two sheets (backing and application) and you apply it like an elastaplast. Pull the backing sheet off, push the sticky side of the vinyl down and run a cloth or something over it to ensure it all sticks to the surface then remove the top sheet and hey presto.
I have applied it to car windows and pc cases in the past. I like the idea of buying online to get competative prices. Round here, if anyone does this I bet it is one company meaning higher prices.
I can try though I suppose!

I know how to apply vinyl thank you very much.
The guys that do it for a living can still do it better I'd wager.

I can also confirm the laser cutter method is effective, we tried it out on some old laptop plastics, set to shallowest possible cutting depth (under 0.5mm).

I know my local signwriter would probably sort you out some if you wanted a few doing, and mail them to you.
