yes, in as2.5 open a flipchart, in the filetype choose the smart notebook type. If you are opening in as3, just open flicphart and you should just be able to choose the smart xbk file.

But it only opens up old files >9.1 files

actually version 3 of Activstudio can open notebook 9.5 files and older.
Future updates to 3 should be able to open newer notebook files too.
It's always worth keeping your software up to date

In some cases yes it is, in other no way! I'm still using AS 1.95 as the teachers all know it, plus it actually works well for me and I know which bits to delete from it to stop it hanging etc
