    Recommend me a laptop please

I need to buy a laptop for my son.

It needs to be capable of running CS6 and other than that it will be used for school work, watching youtube and playing minecraft... but not necessarily in that order!

I'm trying not need a mortgage for it... £750 or less would be ideal.

What would you suggest please? (suppliers welcome to PM me, but be aware this is not a school purchase)

    Why not this?

    Acer Aspire Timeline X5830TG Laptop
    - Intel Core i5 2430M 2.4GHz
    - 750GB HDD + 6GB RAM
    - 15.6" HD + DVDĪRW
    - Webcam + BT + NVIDIA GT540M
    - Windows 7 Home Premium 64
The above post would also suit but i have found that the i5 was more beneficial over the i3 especially if processing images / video in CS5 as its slightly more processor hungry

I would agree with the recommendations above.

The one I bought is mainly for Internet, facebook for the wife and some office use.

Dells new Inspiron 15R SE / 17R SE range would fit the bill with Ivy bridge processors. Also if CS6 is going to be primary use then a good 1080p screen should be top of the list.

Also, given that CS6 can offload processes to a GPU I'd check that whatever you get has a compatible one.

It should also be noted CS6 needs Windows 7 SP1 x64 along with plenty of memory. In the specs it recommends a minimum of 4GB or ideally 8GB+

This seems bloody good for the price - Sandy Bridge i5, 6Gb RAM, HP, £435. HP Pavilion G6-1347sa Laptop - Laptops | Ebuyer.com

This is udoubtedly better, but not sure if it's £245 better... probably not. Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 Laptop - Laptops | Ebuyer.com

And "Recommend a laptop to me" would be better, yes

We've got a few (6 who've owned up to owning one) staff members who have bought this and the predecessors to it, and whilst it performs fine it is plasticky and a bit flimsy... one has had to go back under warranty for a hinge, and i've repaired one just out of warranty with a broken trackpad button... also be prepared to spend a good couple of hours unpicking the bloatware and nonware (useless oem applications).
