Can anyone recommend a good digital signage solution for our new restaurant area?
I'm looking for a 50" display capable of showing BBC news and our own school news (Ticker?) at the same time if possible. Not sure if thats possible or not.
Would prefer an all in one screen which is networked. But could possibly go the DIY computer attached to the screen route if needed.
Budget of about 5k.

18th April 2012, 02:21 PM #4 Look for a monitor and get a ultra small pc and mount it behind the TV. Install Xibo on the machine and you are done for around 800 quid.
5k is way ott for just one screen.

+1 for this advice .. XIBO is a brilliant system, and the beauty is that if you got this up and running and decided at a later date you wanted to add more screens about the place, it would be easily scalable for the cost of the screen and ultra small pc for the future. Loads of support online for it too, so definitely worth checking out.

18th April 2012, 02:29 PM #7 +1 for Xibo
im looking to try and run it on the Raspberry Pi - when I eventually get one

18th April 2012, 02:32 PM #8 I would use Xibo, but if you want to bury your head in the sand about the mechanics of how it works then buy a pads system from a+k About A+K PADS Digital Signage | A+K Digital Signage they will point you to a reseller and provide a complete system. but you will pay for it.

18th April 2012, 02:45 PM #9 Cool yes I am looking for a complete "ready to plug in" system really.
Most things I would normally do myself but we have 5k to spend on this and I want the best no hassle solution.
Anyone used OneLAN digital signage?

18th April 2012, 02:49 PM #10 You could get a solution of about 5/6 screens which can be centrally managed for that 5k though... oh mediacats where awful when i got rid of them many moons ago.

There is samsung MagicInfo - but its complicated! I did create a VM at one point to give to people for Xibo if anybody wants one I don't mind creating it again!

Ditto! Mine should arrive soon! My school want some screens around the school and hopefully this will be the best solution if there is a network point where they would like them! lol
