My desktop went pop (out of warrantee)

    Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a site / company in the UK for getting Dell spare parts as me faithful Optiplex 380
decided to snuff it over the weekend (PSU / motherboard death).

Have been searching, but either me google fu is failing me or there ain't much in the way of
half decently priced bits for this thing.

Cheers in advance for any help.

    Conrad

I've seen suppliers charge up to 150+ for a refurbed board with a 60 day warranty for this PC. Why not push the boat out and go for a HP Proliant N40L Microserver - 111.63 from SERVERSDIRECT.CO.UK after the 88.34 HP CASHBACK OFFER (prices ex.vat)?

Okies time for a very daft question (after my boss said oh go on get something new within reason),
the dell I have has OEM installs of Win7 pro and office 2007 and not too keen on having to shell out again
for OS and Office. Is it gonna be possible to shift the disk over to a new machine and keep existing OS setup as it
    were?

Not sure. IIRC, some OEM disks look for the BIOS string to check authenticity (manufacturer, cpu etc). If you have an OEM disk for a lower end model that only came on a Core Duo and used it on an i5 system then it probably wouldn't work. Besides, if you brought a new Dell it would come pre-installed and with disk (probably, but been a while since I brought a new Dell) anyway.
