    HP Projectors

    Hi,

I have just been told by my suppliers that HP no longer produce projectors or replacement bulbs for previously sold projectors, has anyone heard this?

Not looking forward to saying we need to buy a brand new projector!!

    Re: HP Projectors

Yep - I was told by one of my suppliers about a year ago now that they were pulling out - just as well too, I only have two HP DLPs but they have been awful...
Some suppliers might still have stocks of bulbs though - might be worth googling or asking around...

Just got an email from these people http://www.relamping.co.uk/ who list plenty of HP lamps. Never used them though so not a recommendation...

hp pullecd out of the market cause they had problems with a certain model of projector 75% returns and they lost loads of money. As far as i am aware you can still get the bulbs and the warranties are still valid they just dont want to continuye in teh market

    Re: HP Projectors

@MrPhil - if that's the model I think it was, it could be because it was a rebadged BenQ projector!!

@LinuxGirlie - could you persuade the powers that be to buy loads of replacements now whilst stocks still last?

    Re: HP Projectors

    Ok, that sucks!!

hmmm, I could try, but it depends on the cost if one bulb is £300 and we can get a decent projector that is £500 it makes sense to buy a new one, but I will have a look around and see what the prices are.

Luckly this was a bundle with our whiteboard and we don't have anymore HP's in the school.

    Re: HP Projectors

HP did pull out of the Projector market about 12 months after entering it, basically because they were big hairy stained pants. One local school is on projector 8 now! Thats how bad they are. Horrid things, when I come up against them its bin it and get a new one, I can buy a new Epson or Hitachi with a 4 year bulb warranty for about £50 more than a bulb for the HP, which to me is a far better offer.

Horrid things are HP Projectors, the little baby Compaq ones were not that bad actually but don't know what HP did but they clearly annoyed someone as they were bad.

    Re: HP Projectors

Just as an aside, my two HP ones seem to do OK. hey have been in for approx. 3 years IIRC and are on their first lamps still. Hopefully they won't blow up tomorrow (TOUCH WOOD!).
