Hi
I have just finished setting up a few new Toshiba laptops for members of staff and the sound has suddenly decided to stop working on it. I have tried un-installing the driver, even tried downloading the Realtek software and installing that again. Only thing I did was mute the blighter whilst setting it up (windows chime gets annoying!). Even tried connecting external speakers still no joy. Please could someone suggest a solution other than using the system restore CD.
Regards
Nathan

I had a problem with the Realtek sound on a Fujitsu recently. It was a real pain to sort out. You need the latest driver you can find as it was a microsoft update that messed up the Realtek sound driver. Its documented by Microsoft. You may need to check the Toshiba site for updates as well.

I know it sounds silly, but have you used the scroll wheel on the front to push the volume up?
That tripped me up, a real d'oh moment
