can you find a work experience? By the time they have made 200 they are going be able to do it in their sleep and will be totally set for life!

I've seen 25cm or 30cm, we've bought them ourselves, but never that short. The part numbers for those were 99TRT-600-H (99TRT-600-HK for Black, 99TRT-600-HB for Blue) from Cables Direct or A3L791B25CM from Belkin.

Last time I tried we got 25cm from FruityCables.Co.Uk and ended up cutting them in half and crimping a new end on. Half the work, but still too much to bother with again.

That's basically what I've found. We can get custom ones that are 15cm etc but you end up paying a lot for them

From what I can recall of my college days...
It's all to do with transmission characterisitcs of the cable. You can only test and certify cables over a certain length as anything under a certain length wont express the same characteristics. It's not to say that short cables don't work (we've all made them in the past), it's just that they have to be over a certain length to guarantee Cat5e properties.
ps. apologies if my memory has failed - it's been 12 years!

I've seen the same thing mentioned but we've got 0.25m cables in our cabs and working fine

0.3m tends to be the shortest we have found and to be honest we find we don't really want anything shorter, we did make our own shorter ones and had nothing but trouble with them. We get ours from Comms Express.

The ones ive seen for anything like a reasonable price are 0.3m. I either got them from Insight or RM in a various range of colours.
