Old Mini DVD screen

My girlfriends Dad had a little DVD player that was broke. I obviously said I'd take a look at it and within 10 minutes I had the thing in tatters (as us techies do, not with the intention of fixing but more with the curiosity of what goes where).

Anyhow, now I have a small 5/6 inch screen that I thought I may be able to do something with such as photo frame, or some kind of mini screen for my pc that could just display certain things such as running temps and stuff.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could do with it or more importantly how to do it.

Did the DVD player have a video in? If not all the controller will be intergrated and will make it very hard to display out to the screen.
