I'm thinking of buying myself a new laptop (nothing to do with the school), and would like one that has good battery life and not too heavy. Would spend between aroung £500ish mark.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Theres a cracking deal on PCWorld for this weekend only.... £400. Have a look on their site at the very top "Bank Holiday Deals".

Got my Toshiba through Dabs.com at a very good price
Thanks for the responses. I quite like the look of some of the Novatech kit. Was looking at a Dell Inspirion with the 6 (i think?) cell battery, but those laptops looks a bit bulky.
I advised my mate who is a civil engineer to buy a novatech laptopabout 3 year ago. still uses it today, and works great.
Dont mean to be off, but I would saty well clear of PC World
Sorry i should back up my reason for advissing to staying clear of pc world
PC World
:finga:
I have a thing with PC World, and wouldn't normally buy a system from there. Only buy the occasional thing that may be on offer.
Anyone who asks me for a recommendation lately has been pointed at different laptops in the HP NX6xxx range depending on their budget - cracking price at Ebuyer for the spec IMHO and the three I've set up so far for the people who took me up on my advice have been very impressive. The keyboard has the best 'feel' I've noticed while typing on a laptop for a long while...
