Dell 1U rack consoles

We are thinking of getting a Dell 1U rack console for our server cab now. We have enough srvers to warrant this now instead of having a tft crammed in the cab with a usb mouse and KB. What are you thoughts on these from Dell

Do any of you use them and have any idea what we would pay for them?

I've seen similar things advertised elsewhere, they're about £1,000 I think. Videk do some.

If you're lucky ICT Direct occasionally get these in second user. They are VERY cheap when they do appear - they seem unpopular on the second hand market for some reason.

I have one, its really handy. A couple of points, it needs a deep rack (check the specs) and its a trackball mouse. Needs to go at a sensible height as the keyboard pulls out level with the rails, monitor goes up and down a bit though.

Takes 5 seconds to open/close. Turns off when closed.

They aren't that expensive from dell about £500 as they don't come with a keyboard or mouse unless specifically asked for of course. I'll have a look and see if I can find what price I paid last year.

If you want these head over to http://www.etb-tech.com you can get the proper Dell ones for £195 plus vat and I have 2 of them.

I get most of my kit from these guys and have never had a problem with them at all.

If they don't have them in stock give Mark a ring and he'll let you know when they get them in.

I don't know about the Dell ones but some (e.g. APC) units have inbuilt KVMs which could be handy.
