Maxium HDD size for Auto Letter Assign

I have a couple of external HDD's 1TB and when ever I connect them I need to go into disk management and assign a drive letter for them to work, is this normal?

Nothing to do with size, its probably just set to a drive letter that is already in use by default. Could us USBDLM.
