We are having some work done on our Promethean whiteboards and we need to source cables which link the board via a serial-type cable. I have attached pictures of the connectors [aplogies for the poor quality, but it was the best I could get out of the cr*ppy camera] What I am looking for is what to call the cables when ordering them, something like 20 metre Serial to USB, but obviously using the correct terms for the terminations.
It's Jim!
Nope its David! Seriously though I think its an HP cable to pluginto the backs of printers (Specialist Connection starts with a C but I can't remember) I believe some laptops have a similar one but I think its for docking stations.

mini-Centronics I think it was called or just Centronics.

Looks like what i used to call a "half port centronics" cable - which hp used on some of their older laserjets - I think the old laserjet 1100 used it.

Promethians website has something called a Keyspan Serial to USB adapter
link...
Dunno if its what your looking for tho...
They seem to be called Promeathean PromEthean Usb - Pc To Whiteboard Cable

If you want to connect at 20m then you are going to need a 20m serial cable with a serial to usb adaptor on the end (if you want to use usb). Or extend the USB with a cat5 converter.
Phone up Promethean support if you want more info, or just ask me here.
