New UPS - APC vs Delta
A couple of our APC UPSs have recently died, and while looking for replacements I've come across a rather well specced Delta Gaia UPS which is half the price of the equivalent capacity APC Smart-UPS.
On paper the Delta looks to be higher spec than the APC (Double Conversion as opposed to Line Interactive (Unfortunately that's as far as my UPS knowledge goes)), but since I've not come across Delta Electronics before, and the price difference is so large I'm a little wary.
Does anyone have any experience of Delta Gaia UPSs, or Delta Electronics in general?
Or are there any reasons the Delta would be inferior to the APC?

At the edugeek conference there was some information about AEG ups's which looked good - although i've never used one.

neither had i until it failed - there was power to the device and it didn't power up - nor did it bypass the power straight to the servers. major fail

That is about the last thing you want a UPS to do. Got dodgy electrics, you want the UPS to protect your server, even if that means frying itself and your server powering off. At least your server isn't fried.

21st September 2011, 09:02 PM #7 Not been a fan of APC had too many die which is annoying as anything. Got a Borri one at work, much better value than APC but was a bit of a fight getting it fixed under warranty and then some miss-communication from them on the terms of warranty which were not clear etc but its all working now (touches wood!)
