Buffalo 8TB TeraStation III Rackmount
Anyone used had experiences of these?
I am aware some NAS's don't support Windows file/security permission very well. Which isn't a problem if its for a backup, but can imagine it may cause from problems if we needed to set shares up etc.
Any advice/reviews appreciated.

I have a terastation 2 which supports windows shares (really bady) and 2 8tb terastation III iscsi. I wouldn't waste your money, their software raid implementation is properly rubbish.

if its a permissions issue couldnt you (assuming youre using 2008+) create a vhd on the nas and mount\backup into that should remove any permissions issues as nas just sees one file server sees an extra drive it can do what it wants to

What would anyone on here recommend as a really nailed on balls to the wall NAS?
We eventually want to use it as just a dedicated file server that contains shared area etc
