Can anyone recommend a capless 32gb USB memory stick please?

    Hi,

I went out and brought a memory stick today but it is one with a cap. Give it a week or two and i know that the cap will be missing somewhere around the school.

I've been having a look around at capless usb memory but what i've found is tha many have a retractable usb but it doesnt cover the end of the usb up so rubbish can still get in. This makes the retractable usb capless design almost useless.

Does anyone know of a usb memory stick that properly manages to cover the usb connection?

    Thanks

    Fred

The majority of the latest Kingston, PNY and sandisk new drives are capless, however you'll pay a lot more than a non-cap (or so I found )

Play.com - Buy Sandisk Cruzer Slice / 32GB / USB Flash Drive online at Play.com and read reviews. Free delivery to UK and Europe!

Play.com - Buy PNY Attache 32GB USB Flash Drive online at Play.com and read reviews. Free delivery to UK and Europe!

Play.com - Buy SanDisk Cruzer Blade / 32GB / USB Flash Drive online at Play.com and read reviews. Free delivery to UK and Europe!

etc etc. But when there are 32gb sticks for less than £20 nowadays, do you want to pay that premium?

    Steve

Once you have found one, you may want check the USBFlashSpeed website as some USB flash drives are extremely slow.

Thanks all. Think what i may do is get one of the cheaper ones with a cap and then just stick a loop of some sort on it so i can't loose it.

The capless one's don't seem to have enough protection against dirt etc getting onto the connectors.

May go for the corsair flash voyager, or the cheaper home make if they have a decent warranty.

If you're worried about lint on the connectors, why not try one of those "swivel" type drives (example). You could buy a load of caps (I couldn't be bothered to search for <100) or make your own supply or get a "sleeve".

Have gone in a completely different direction and brought the zalman ve200 enclosure after readin about it on this forum.

It has a hardware write protect switch and also iso mounting capability.

Thanks for all of your help, lets hope i made the correct decision.
