Acer Laptop just restarts

I have been having issues with my laptop like freezing after just about 30 mins of usage, i decided to update the bios to v1.33 which i downloaded from acer's website. After the successful update, the laptops boots but restarts continuously even without getting to the bios screen.

It is possible that during the BIOS update the Sata Native mode has changed - can you see if there is such an option in the bios and change it over to ide?

I would do this, had/have the same problem with updating bios where it wont start.

I cant even get to the bios settings as the systems goes off and on without getting to the bios stage, i just see the cpu fan working and then nothing else...no display on screen.

I have tried reseating the memory but still the problem continues.

Could be a bad flash, is there a recovery tool available?

Which model of Acer Laptop?

It does sound like a bad BIOS flash but it's worth trying this first.

Remove the battery and power lead. Hold down the power button for a while. That will clear out all static. Put the battery back and try booting.

@kmount No recovery tool available, the model is acer aspire 5520

@mrwobbly suspecting same, ve tried that but all remains the same.
