    Teralyte Backup

I just had one of these arrive: Teralyte Removable Disk Backup

The spare caddies come with their own fancy padded case, so when I'm carrying one around school it'll look like I'm carrying something VERY important. I might add some stickers.

Which one do you have? Capacity/interface? Our lil RDX drives are pretty good but I think we'll need a tape loader next year for more capacity

Teralyte 2000 - I think I ordered some nice 2TB hard drives to go with it (I think 2TB, can't remember, will know when they turn up)

The Software looks pretty fab and the enclosure is very heavy!

Never heard of them, what kind of price range would I be looking at for the drive and caddies? It looks just like a standard SATA caddy but not sure how much has been added on for the software...

They are very nearly standard - drives however have a very slightly different notching on the SATA connector and a firmware solution which stops them working as standard.

You can use standard sata2 disks with their caddys.

Ye that's how I thought it was, buy their caddies and then fill with SATA drives of choice.

Just seems to be difficult finding suppliers as our usual sources can't get hold of them...

I realise this is an old thread now. But I'd be interested to know if you're happy with the Teralyte product. Would you recommend it? Have you had to restore from it?

    Thanks
