Hey folks.
Got a number of Via Rhine II integrated LAN machines but the Boot Rom on them appears to set to look for a Netware network rather than do a PXE boot.
Anyone know of a way to re-flash the firmware, or replace the ROM so I can use PXE or alternatively create a PXE boot disk for this particular type of NIC?
Thanks in advance

You need to go buy a bunch of compatible Boot rom chips, a EEPROM Programmer and a suitable image to flash the boot roms with. The first two items require a maplins catalog and money to obtain.. The final can be got online from Rom-O-Matic.

Hmm.. Daft question but i'm guessing some low profile PXE capable LAN cards would be a more cost effective solution given that I'm only talking 7 PC's herre... ?

Correct. But good luck finding them. In my experience the first thing that gets chucked off a NIC to save cost is the PXE Boot ROM.

We had this issue with a bunch of IBM Thinkstations. It turned out that we'd missed an unhelpfully named BIOS option that toggled netware/PXE boot.
