Rackmount APC UPS suppliers

Can any one recommend a good supplier whose prices are competitive for a APC Rack-mounted UPS.

Not sure of the spec yet> open to offers and options depending on price.

May I also recommend that you go for one with a management card if you can afford it? This saves the tangle of serial cables and the need for ShareUPS boxes too.

We already have a APC with this card in, I want another APC just for our NAS box that sits ina cab in another block which holds a lot of our back ups.


But yes the MGMT card is a must :-)

Don't forget to buy a type R (and I don't mean a Honda)

Unless you have an expandable chassis you will be limited to the runtime capacity of the unit itself.
Most units will run for only 5-6 minutes on a full load with runtimes extended only by adding batteries.

The APC range eg 5000R indicates extended runtime.

I have come across several clients recently who have been sold 5000's and all expected them to run for hours with 7 servers attached only to find they didn't buy the expandable chassis.

I would say give European Electronique a call. They provided us with a good quote for our 5000R.

Also, I was sure that the R stood for 'Rackmount'...

I generally find that the APC configurator does a good job or giving you some alternatives. You tell it what you want to plug in, the type of cables, mounting orientation and the desired runtime then it goes off and comes back with 3 alternatives

Don't forget that the larger ones i.e 5000va ones are supposed to be hard wired.
