    Help with Spiceworks

    Hello and good morning,

Yesterday (after being advised by members on edugeek I downloaded spiceworks.

All I really need it for is to get mac address and serial numbers

Is there away i can get the serial numbers in to a notepad file by exporting them after the network scan and you can see whats there?

Any advise or any help would be very good

    Thanks

    Lewis

I have just started using this also.

I think that it collects that info by default.

I'm not at my desk but i think you click on inventory and at the bottom of the drop down the is a reports option. Then i think machine configuration report is what you want.

You can customize the reports columns to what you want then run. You could run to excel then copy to notepad or whatever. Hope this helps

Yes you can do it through a report. The reporting options are endless.

    Thank you for your help..

The only problem a have now is after a scan its saying the computer name is the serial number

The Serial number is no where to been seen.. it says its the computer name EG:

    *IP ADDRESS*
    MAC: 00:00:00:00:00
    Vendor: *MODLE*
    Serial: 6th-form-photoc

when 6th-form-photoc is the computers name and the serial number cant been seen :-(

Spiceworks uses WMI to get the information.
