We have quite a few of these printers too, and AFAIK they're not supposed to that.

Have you tried reseting to factory settings?

I have some of those printers and i don't have that issue when it comes to changing the toners.
As well as doing a factory reset maybe do a firmware update ?
Do a factory reset first and if that fails do a firmware update no point doing the latter if the a reset can resolve it.
