Well it appears that a machine I put together from standard dekstop parts as a web server has died.
Luckily I appear to have dumps from all the mysql db's on my backup nas and most of the filesystems as well.
Anyone have any recommendations on proper server hardware that works fine with linuxes I was running ubuntu lamp on the one that died.
Looking at something like the HP Proliant ML110 range possibly.
Have around £1K to throw at it.
Cheers,
Ben

Are you wanting Rack or Tower?
If rack, I would go for something like an HP DL140 G3 or a DL320 G5. The ML's are huge in comparison.

Good point.
I have a ML110 G2 at the moment as a ICT Support server.
I could rackmount the web server in with my existing hp proxy rackmount and run it off it's ups.

Well at least it appears as if the backups were good I've just restored the Student Intranet wiki from the backups on my nas.
