On a talet PC running XPTablet edition with Office 2003 reveals a feature called "annotate" this will allow teachers to highlight and draw (so handwrite) comments and arrows underlines etc onto the word doc and you can show and hide this with the click of a button. I don't know how vista,W7 with office 2007 / 2010 will handle this. This was exclusive to xp tablet edition with office 2003 feature and could NOT be added to a normal xp machine.

We have a few staff who like their tablets (proper pen ones, not touch screen). I swear by Toshiba's offerings, as they're tough and good value.
I recently picked up another one from Ebay for £200. It's a Portege M400, with Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 12" screen. Whacked Windows 7 Pro on it (which has all the tablet features of XP Tablet built in) and it's great. Annotating in Office 2010 is easy, and Journal works nicely for whiteboard work.
