28th April 2011, 03:18 PM #1 Printing issues - Blotchy and poor colours
For some reason our offices HP 3600n printer today decided to start printing abit strange, I have ran all the diagnostics on the printer and ran a ful l reconfiguration but the problem still continues. All toners are pretty much full having only been replaced a few weeks ago.
Here is an example, the image sent and the results scanned back in.

28th April 2011, 03:22 PM #2 Does that printer have the ability to print out a set of pq troubleshooting sheets?
Our 4600 print out a sheet of each of the toners and a calibration/information page makes it easy to spot what's happened.

I was just about to edit and add this, yes the printer does have pq ability and they all appear fine, no lines, no faded colours. The diagnostics sheet also looks fine, colours all around are good and everything alligns.

28th April 2011, 03:29 PM #5 looks like its missing black to me.
is the black toner actually getting to the developer in a good amount, heard of issues where a pipe/feed can become blocked on some lasers which reduces the amount of toner getting onto the page.
draft setting turned on?

The problem is defintly missing black as you said but it appears to be going to the developer fine on PQ tests and on just black such as text. Draft setting is not on.

28th April 2011, 03:48 PM #7 That is wierd then if you have pq issues I'd normally expect it to show on the PQ troubleshooting.
What about a word file with random coloured words?

Looks fine, I added some shapes in word with random colours and overlapping and no issue either. Seems to be on images when there aren't clear cut lines

28th April 2011, 04:29 PM #9 We have had similar issues with 36/3800's. Where printing plain blocks of colour was no problem, they didn't seem to "mix" correctly. The quality tests also looked fine.
In the end we diagnosed that it was the toner that was the issue, it being damp or poor quality; replacing them fixed the issues.

Thanks for the tip, didnt have any spare black toners but "borrowed" one from the admin teams printer, they dont need to print images
