Currently my two tower servers are sat in the room in which I work, just on the desk and taking up a considerable amount of space.
With new budgets in April I'm hoping to be able to buy another 2x servers. I've been looking at rack mountable 1U or 2U servers. The cabs we have at the moment won't take rack-mountable servers, so I need to buy a cabinet.
Can anybody recommend a supplier/manufacturer of cabinets? I'd like the 2 tower cabinets that I have currently to be inside this cabinet as well. Is this mix of rack-mountable and free-standing server advisable?
Thanks in advance
Sam

It can be done whether it is the best option is a matter of opinion if you can get your tower servers a rack mount kit it would be neater and of course take up a lot less space, CCS Media has a lot of very reasonable cabinets from many vendors so I would try them out ask for Neil Ottewell on 01246 200 200 ext 1030. All you'll need for the towers at present is a shelf inside the cabinet.

The best type I've had the pleasure to work with is Imrak.

We got our server cabinet from ebay. Shipping / driving to pickup can be a pain, but we got lucky.
Well worth keeping an eye out.

I use Prism cabinets - high build quality at a reasonable price.

My server cab is an APC one... the basic cab was relatively cheap and is very good quality... the accessories can be a touch pricey but it depends what you want.

I use Mills LTD, paid 400 for a 46U cabinet the other month for a job I sorted out for someone.

I think that my 42u APC cab with side panels and metal doors was in the region of £500... that is with feet and everything too - plus wheels for the initial positioning!
The head still likes to recall the story of the caretakers wondering how to get the cab up 5 stps into the schol and then I walked along with a spanner (supplied by APC I should add), unbolted it from the pallet and then proceeded to remove the side panels and doors... the sigh of relief by the caretakers was audible! I got them back by getting them to move the UPS (I took the 6 lead acid cells out first!)

Indeed, the Prism full cabinets do come in many boxes. But once they are up they are good.
